A tip for those who engage in social network wars (ahem, flame wars). If you are losing an argument, never say that you won’t be replying/continuing the fight or you’ll be gone for good. Why? Because the possible outcomes are:
(1) You’re back again just to check out the aftermath. Unable to resist the urge, you’re back in the fight. And now you’re a total jerk to everyone witnessing your last statement about not coming back. Credibility gone.
(2) You’re back again just to see how blunt the closing statement from the other guy is. Yes, it hurts even more when you realize that you can’t defend yourself anymore (because you said you won’t be back again). You look like a loser.
(3) If you’re not back again, good for you but honestly, you mind will at least try to predict the aftermath. Expect some restless intervals whenever you do your things.
Now, talking about being more militant at flame wars. There’s also a fine line between winning the keyboard war and becoming a troll.
